The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MOCDE) recently celebrated the success of National Cybersecurity Awareness Week 2024 in a ceremony held at the ministry’s premises. The event was honored by the presence of the Honorable Minister Lamin JABBI.
This year’s Awareness Week took place in Mansakonko, Lower River Region, focusing on vital themes such as child online protection and digital literacy, particularly targeting students and young women farmers.
During the ceremony, Minister JABBI highlighted the significance of collaboration in promoting Public-Private Partnerships, which played a crucial role in the event’s success. He expressed his appreciation to the contributors, emphasizing that their efforts align with the National Cybersecurity Policy 2022-2026 and Pillar 7 of the Digital Economy Master Plan 2024-2034.
Mr. Ismaila Njie, Vice President of the Gambia Cyber Security Alliance, voiced the gratitude of civil society organizations for the Minister’s dedication to cybersecurity awareness.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to several sponsors, including the American Bar Association through USAID, Africell The Gambia, and Comium Gambia. Recognition was also given to civil society organizations such as the Gambia Cyber Security Alliance, SHOAW GAMBIA, GamCON Infosec Community, and the Center for the Advancement of Science and Innovations (CASAI).
