Job Overview:

The Data Architect will play an instrumental part in designing, implementing, and overseeing the data standards and architecture framework of government information systems. As part of a collaborative team across departments, the data architect will establish an infrastructure which facilitates efficient integration, governance, and analytics – and to support
efficient integration through standardization. He/She must combine technical know-how with some governmental understanding for optimal transformation of data management within government

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engaging government departments and agencies to assess enterprise data requirements and integration needs.
  • Designing, creating, and maintaining an architecture strategy aligned with GICTA’s mission and government objectives.
  • Implement and enforce data standards, policies, and procedures that guarantee data accuracy, consistency, security, and accessibility.
  • Build and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data models that demonstrate data flow relationships and integration points for easier management and administration of systems and databases.
  • Collaborate with software developers, data engineers and analysts to implement effective data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend data management tools, technologies and platforms which align with agency goals.
  • Coordinating the use of analysis, design, and modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain data structures with their associated components.
  • Plans own data modelling and design activities, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives.

  • Provide training and guidance to government staff on data-related topics, fostering a data-driven culture.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by senior staff.
