Job Overview:
The Business Systems Analyst will bridge the gap between technology and business needs, ensuring efficient use of information systems and technologies that support GICTA’s mission and objectives. He/She will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and technical experts in gathering, analyzing, translating and creating actionable system solutions based on business requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaboration with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements for information systems, software applications, and technology projects.
- Conduct thorough business process analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency increases, or automation projects.
- Translate business requirements into comprehensive functional and technical specifications for development teams. Analyze current system capabilities, proposing modifications or enhancements that meet ever-evolving business demands.
- Create use cases, workflow diagrams, and other visual aids to communicate system requirements and design to technical teams. Partner with software developers, designers, and quality assurance teams to ensure accurate implementation of system solutions.
- Participate in testing activities, including creating test scenarios, performing testing and helping troubleshoot and resolve defects. Offer user training and support during system implementation and post-implementation phases.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies relevant to GICTA’s objectives in order to monitor system performance, identify areas for optimization, and suggest recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Help manage project activities such as planning, scope control and progress tracking.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by senior staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Computer Science/Business Administration or related field is preferred with at least three (3) years post-qualification experience work experience in Business Systems Analyst or similar role.
- Professional Certification or Qualification in Business System Analyst, Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar domain will be an added advantage.
- Experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role in IT or related projects is required, along with a strong understanding of business analysis techniques, methodologies, tools and their uses in gathering requirements, use cases and functional specifications.
- Experience in Agile or iterative development methodologies.
- Experience with process modeling using BPMN, workflow analysis and business process
reengineering is essential to this role.
- Familiarity with public sector or governmental organizations IT projects is invaluable, with knowledge of current information technology trends and applications will be an added advantage.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to transform complex requirements into actionable tasks.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills that enable interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiar with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices as well as having the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams while meeting evolving project demands.
- Highly effective organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are desired qualifications for this position.
- Proficiency with data modeling and CASE tools such as MS Visio, erwin Data Modeler, etc
